Hi, neighbor. I'm Adam.
For the past four years, I’ve been fortunate to serve as a Nevada City Councilmember, and now, in the final year of that term, I have the honor of serving as your Mayor.
Having grown up here, my experiences have run the gamut: I went to Nevada County schools, made music with uniquely talented homegrown artists, ran a downtown business, rented tiny apartments, and now owning a home here, I've enjoyed a lifelong relationship with this community. Serving on the City Council has only deepened that connection, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.
Together with my colleagues, I've been busy. Most urgently, we launched Nevada City's first-ever Office of Emergency Services, using funds collected through Measure C, so we're more prepared for the unthinkable. You've seen our Fire Fuels Mitigation Technicians working tirelessly to clear city properties of green waste, while our Defensible Space Inspectors have provided recommendations to make our homes safer. Closest to my heart, this Council founded the Nevada City Public Arts Commission, at last officially bringing public art to this place that has so long been defined by our artists. These things happened because I'm part of a Council that has prioritized our safety and our culture.
I’d like to continue working to ensure people who’ve loved this town all their lives can continue to live here. At this moment, there are real opportunities to create much-needed workforce housing, and I don't want to see those opportunities pass us by.
Additionally for the past four years, I've been serving as a City Council Liaison to the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, while also sitting on the Executive Board of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council. As a former owner of a downtown retail shop, it matters to me that our businesses feel supported by the City, whether they’re in our historic downtown or in the ascending Seven Hills district.
It's been an honor to serve and represent the place that shaped me, and I'm eager to continue the work and build on the progress of the past four years. With your support, that's what I'll do. I'd be honored to receive your vote on (or before!) June 2nd.
-Adam
